Writer / Director
Stories with genre heart and arthouse soul, where identity, loyalty, and survival collide.
Schuman Hoque is a British Bangladeshi writer-director whose character-driven genre stories explore identity, loyalty, survival, and the cost of choosing who you are when the stakes are real.
Entering the industry outside traditional access structures, finding a way in without a safety net, shaped both his voice and the stories he is compelled to tell.
His short films have been jury-nominated at SXSW. His comedy pilot The New Bromantics won Best Independent UK Pilot at the New York TV Festival. His debut feature Beyond Existence received three nominations at the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival and secured international distribution. His second feature The Retreat, produced by Happy Hour Productions, arrives at the Cannes market in May 2026.
Alongside his directing career, he has over 20 years of experience as a Senior Creative Producer in broadcast, digital, and branded content, with clients including Jack Morton Worldwide, CNBC Catalyst/NBC Universal, and ITN Productions.
